The graph below shows electricity production (in terawatt hours)
in France between 1980 and 2012.
INTRODUCTION)
The line graph presents the 4 main sources
of electricity in France, namely thermal, nuclear, hydroelectric and renewables
between 1980 and 2012.
->
The
line graph compares the amount of electricity produced in France using four
different sources of power over a period of 32 years.
OVERVIEW)
It is clear that the highest source of
electricity was nuclear. The lowest electricity production was renewables.
->
It is clear that nuclear power was the most important means of electricity generation over the period shown. Renewables
provided the lowest amount
of electricity in
each year.
1ST Details paragraph)
The electricity production of thermal was
the highest at more than 100TW-h in 1980. During that year, hydroelectric and
nuclear were used as sources of electricity with almost 70TW-h. And renewables
had not been used between 1980 and 1996.
->
In
1980, the electricity production of thermal power stations was the highest source of
electricity in France, generating around 120 terawatt hours of power. In the same year, hydroelectric
and nuclear power stations were used as sources of electricity with almost 70
terawatt hours each, and renewables provided a very minute amount. Just a year later,
nuclear power overtook
thermal power as
the primary source of electricity.
2ND Details paragraph)
The
electricity production by using nuclear increased rapidly after 1980 until 2000 and it steadly increased between
2000 and 2006. Aside from that, it little decreased between 2006and 2009
and increased again between 2006 and 2011. In 2012 it was little decreased
again but it was still the highest source of making electricity. Renewables
was used firstly in 1996 after than, it steadly increased until 2012 at 50
terawatt hours of power but it was still the lowest source of electricity.
->
Between
1980 and 2005, electricity production from nuclear power rose dramatically to a peak of
430 terawatt hours. In
contrast, the thermal power fell to only 40 terawatt hours in 1986, and remained at this average level
for the rest of the period. Hydroelectric power generation remained relatively stable for
the whole 32-period, at between 50 to 80 terawatt hours, but renewable
electricity production only
saw a small rise to approximately 25 terawatt hours by 2012.
